Philippians 4:7

There is so much happening around us. If we are not careful it will take our minds away from truth and from faith in God. We could start believing a lie like "there is no God if all this is happening." But we serve a great big wonderful God, who is almighty and the ONLY one who can save.

'A child is born to us, a son is given to us, and authority will be on his shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. ' Isaiah 9:6

If the government is upon His shoulders, and these names are true of Him, then we have nothing to worry about.

'In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [draw your strength from Him and be empowered through your union with Him] and in the power of His [boundless] might. ' Ephesians 6:10

We have to be connected to God and He promises that He will never disconnect from us. God stays connected to us. Hold on to Him. Draw strength from Him.

  • How do you stay connected to God?

When you have God in your life, you have everything because He has everything and He is the supplier of ALL of your needs. So we must stay connected to Him so that we will not have to worry about anything.

'And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. ' Philippians 4:7 KJV

' And God's peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.' Philippians 4:7 (AMPC)

When you have Jesus, God guards your mind. Our minds are a battlefield and the enemy knows that if he can attack our minds, then he can influence our actions, emotions and faith. We cannot allow the enemy to stay active in our minds.

  • How are you allowing the enemy to stay active in your mind?

James 4:7 tells us that if we resist the devil, he will flee from you. So we must resist him. We must resist the enemy because not only is he influencing you, but he is affecting everyone else in your house. He will not voluntarily leave. You must proactively resist him!

'(for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; and having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? If any man trust to himself that he is Christ's, let him of himself think this again, that, as he is Christ's, even so are we Christ's. ' 2 Corinthians 10:4-7

How do you take every thought captive?

  1. Recognize the thought - What are some thoughts the enemy is putting in your mind?
  2. Compare that thought to the truth of God's Word - What does God's word say?
  3. Reject that thought if it doesn't line up with the Word of God
  4. Replace it with the truth of God's Word - Speak the Word over your life (out loud). [Isaiah 55:10-11; Numbers 23:19]
  • When you are going through a difficult time, what are some scriptures you repeatedly speak over your life?

God does the impossible all the time. He is the same yesterday, today, and forevermore. If He did it before, He can do it again. Why not believe Him today? Why allow the enemy to take captive your thoughts today? Why live with suffering when we know how it ends (Revelation 21:4)?

If your mind stays focused on Him, then you will do what God says to do. If you focus on God, you remember your purpose and His plan for you in this life. It is greater than our problems. If God changed one life, He can change yours.

2 Corinthians 12:9 - God told Paul that His grace is sufficient for Him.

'Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. ' Isaiah 26:3
