We don't need to continue to complain about the past. We don't need to live in the stories of "yesterday". We are better than that.
“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 3:13-14 KJV“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV
What are the old things in your life that you need to let go of?
Read Ephesians 3:13-14 - Paul was encouraging believers to focus on their spiritual goals in Christ rather than dwelling on past successes or failures. Not just what you've been through - gained or lost, but to look to the future about what will be. He was encouraging the purpose of perseverance despite where you've come from.
Are you trying to stay in your "yesterday" when God is trying to pull you forward?
You're better than that. We don't need to be stuck in the position we are in today because of what happened in the past. Sometimes waiting is discouraging and disappointing, but Paul said "don't worry about yesterday". God wants to bless your "today". Think about the "now".
What you are dealing with is only a temporary thing. Paul encourages the believers to spiritually progress, to focus on eternity, and more. A lot of people are depressed because they are focused on the things on this earth. God wants to lift your eyes. What He has for you is in eternity, not on this earth. Stop looking at the natural when He is going to do things in the supernatural.
God's will for you is above - in heavenly places.
- Get Your Focus Right - Things are not clear in your life until your focus is right. Is your focus on things that are above?
“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.”
Colossians 3:1-2 KJV
-
- My life was designed for God's plan, God's purpose, and God's power.
- God's Plan for your life wasn't your plan. It's always been His plan. You cannot move forward and backwards at the same time. That's just motion, but not progress. That is when you're stuck in time and the enemy loves to give you time-wasters.
- ARE YOU JUST GOING THROUGH THE MOTION?
- My life was designed for God's plan, God's purpose, and God's power.
- Get Your Mouth Right - Out of your mouth comes blessing and curse. Watch what you say. There is power in your words and the truth is - you serve a GREAT GOD! (Read Proverbs 18:21)
- “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: And they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” Proverbs 18:21 KJV (EASY)
- Go To Work - Not just in your natural work, but in the spiritual things. Whatever God has called you to do, get to work and go do it. Be faithful in what God has given you. Whatever He has placed in you, you need to use them for God's glory. Don't wait for people to tell you to do it.
“While it is still day, we must continue to work. God has sent me and we must do his work. We must work now because it will be night soon. Then nobody can work.”
John 9:4 EASY
And God will do the rest. We do what we can in the natural, but God is GREAT and works in the supernatural to complete the work.
