Proverbs 10:22 "The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it."
What does it mean to be truly blessed by God? The mere accumulation of wealth or material things? The blessing involves everything.
INTRO: What does it mean to walk IN the blessing of the Lord? How does it manifest in our lives? How is it fundamentally different from how the world says we should get it?
Be careful not to forfeit the blessing. Stay in right standing with God. Continue to go to him asking for forgiveness.
- "The blessing of the Lord" - God is the source of the blessing.
- "It maketh rich" - The wealth that God gives it spiritual, physical, and financial.
- "And addeth no sorrow with it" - Your ideas and efforts mean nothing. All is needed is your participation. If God gave it to you, He will give you the means and the know-how to keep it. Just be obedient.
It's up to us to tap into the SOURCE and not the blessing. Are you pursuing the blessing or the source of the blessing? How are you tapping into God?
Psalm 75:6-7 "For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, Nor from the south. But God is the judge: He putteth down one, and setteth up another.
- God is the source of the true blessing and riches that He set up for me. God's blessings are eternal and unchanging. He is the source and it's important to recognize that the key to a blessing is to seek a relationship with the blesser, not seeking the stuff but the Creator thereof. The relationship with God is what matters. Don't expect the stuff. (Read Matthew 6:33) (READ Psalm 24:1-6)
- Do you remember the things God has ALREADY done?
- In what ways are you seeking God? (READ 2 Chronicles 7:14, Psalm 23:6)
- The blessing of the Lord brings fulfillment, not sorrow. When God blesses, it comes with peace, joy, and fulfillment. It brings contentment, wholeness because it aligns with God's purpose for our lives. True contentment is found in Christ because with Him, not in abundance or the lack of material posessions. "Stuff" doesn't make you blessed.
- The blessing of God covers EVERY aspect of life. Having ALL the money in the world doesn't make you truly happy. While we need it, money isn't everything. (READ Deuteronomy 28:1-6, 3 John 2 , Genesis 12:2)
- The blessing of the Lord empowers us to be a blessing. In order to be a blessing to others, you have to be blessed by the blessor and be WILLING to be a blessing. The more you give, the more the Lord wants to give to you.
Many of us want blessings, but God knows what you are capable of handling.
Do you have a proven track record of being a giver? If God gave you 50 billion dollars today, how many of you would be here next Sunday?
God wants to bless you with the best, but why - so that you can be a blessing to your seed. We are given gifts so that we can give and be a blessing.
In what ways do you sense God might be leading you to bless others?
