1 Peter 2:9

God has blessed you to "live and move and have your being". (Acts 17:28)

We cannot make it without God.

  • How is your relationship with God?
  • Who do you live to please?
  • Do you live holy? Holiness is always the right way to live.

Living this life, in this day, we need God.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WE ARE THE BODY OF CHRIST.

(Read 1 Peter 2:9) No matter what else is true of you (your race, ethnicity, gender, age), you are chosen, of royal priesthood, a holy nation, and peculiar / different.

  • Peculiar - Everybody will notice the different one. We are called to be set apart and different. You are special because God chose you.  We who claim Jesus have been set apart, so our lives should look very different.
How do you live the way that you were called to - differently? In what ways do you look, act, talk, live different?
  • Chosen - You've been called by God. You were purchased by the blood of Jesus - His life was the payment for your way into the ever presence of God.
  • Holy - You've been called to be dedicated to living rightly. You have been called out of darkness into His marvelous light. Without fault or blemish.
    • (Matthew 5:16 "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.") That means that there is NO TIME to live outside of how God has called me to live. Your light is called to ALWAYS be ON.
    • (Read Hebrews 10:26 - If we wilfully sin, the sacrifice does not apply and we will die without mercy. There will be worse punishment for those who profane the blood of the covenenant by which we were made holy.) We were chosen. Don't throw it away.
  • A Royal Priesthood - A community of lights. ALL of us should be shining as individuals, together.

God can change anything and anyone.

Still, so many in the body of Christ can't seem to love one another. Holiness tells us that we have to love one another. In Luke 15, one son was jealous of the other, but the Father loved both and just wanted his sons to be in relationship with him and love one another. We are called to love others as we live holy.

What does it look like to love someone different from you or someone who bothers you? How do you live a holy life in a relationship with someone you don't like or don't get along with?

How do you live separate from the world?

God's Word warns us of what will happen if we don't live holy lives. Read Galatians 5:16-20 - "But I say, walk in the Spirit, and you will not fulfil the lust of the flesh.... they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God."

Heed the warning. Live holy.
